Question
As-salamu `Alaykum warahmatullah (May Allah’s Peace and Mercy be upon you)!
5 years ago I had an attack of fear out of nowhere. I couldn’t sleep. I was sweating, I had coldness in my limbs, and dryness in my throat. Two years later my sleep had become irregular, so I went to see a psychiatrist who gave me Seroxat and serequel. I took this medication for three months. Then I told the doctor that I felt well and that I was thinking about stopping the medication. She said: stop it, So I did.
Now, I am better, but recently I’ve started to feel frightened at night. So at night, I do not like going out or being alone in the house, but in the morning I feel fine. I laugh, travel, and do everything naturally without fear. What is wrong with me? Should I see another psychiatrist or it is over?
Answer
Dear valued brother, As-salamu `Alaykum warahmatullah (May Allah’s Peace and Mercy be upon you)!
Thanks to Allah that you were recovered. What you feel is the result of that worry, but if you still feel fear, you may take half a pill of seroxat before sleep. If your fear goes away, it is good otherwise you may take one pill regularly and the dose will be good and the symptoms shall go away by the will of Allah.
