Satellite channels in Ramadan

The month of Ramadan has approached. It the month of blessings, during which the entire universe is adorned to receive it and hearts beat out of joy and yearning to witness the month. During which the gates of Paradise are opened, the gates of Hell-Fire are closed, and devils and demons are chained. During which a caller is saying: O you who intend good, approach and O seekers of evil, desist. And freedom from fire is (allowed) by Allah and that is every night.

However these blessings, a Muslim is afflicted by things which corrupt the days and nights of Ramadan. Ramadan is no longer the month of worship but it has become connected with series, games, and tents of play.

In a time mass media have become abundant, the officials neglected the real role of media which is educating people and played another role that is in conflict with Islamic values and principles. Their concern has become viewing movies, series, games, and songs to attract viewers the longest possible period. The matter did not stop at that limit but they exploited the blessed month of Ramadan to view materials that harm a Muslim and lead to the corruption of the community and wastes rewards. They turned this blessed month from a month of repentance, seeking forgiveness, and resorting to Allah (may He be Glorified and Exalted) to a month during which games, series, and programs are viewed which contributes in corrupting young people and distracting them from the worship of Allah (may He be Glorified and Exalted), the remembrance of Allah, performing Salah, reciting the Qur’an, and other forms of worship.

I say to the officials and those who are in charge of these satellite channels: Fear Allah in terms of the programs which are being viewed to the audience in order not to bear your sins along with the sins of the viewers, and remember Allah’s Saying:“They will bear their own burdens in full on the Day of Resurrection, and also of the burdens of those whom they misled without knowledge. Evil indeed is that which they shall bear!” [Surat An-Nahl: 25].

The truth is: TV is a double-edged weapon bright and dark sides. Allah (Blessed and Exalted be He) granted us useful Islamic channels which present different types of elegant media work, where they reached most houses and addressed the largest class. They bear a message of enlightenment and education to the people and promote them to the best shape of worship in their acts of worship, relationships, culture, and all their affairs.

So, a Muslim has to be careful so as not to invalidate his fasting, waste his reward, or deprived of the great reward in this blessed month.
